Root Samsung Galaxy Note

[New Galaxy Note with my mom's Nokia ]

Rooting is the process by which user regain administrative access to android phone.

Even though Android is an open source operating system user still don’t have full “root access” to do what user please. Rooting Android phone enables you to use the superuser, or root, permissions of the Linux-based operating system

I rooted my brand new Galaxy Note with clockworkmod recovery. It worked like  slicing a butter ! I’m more used to this approach as I did it with my previous HTC-HD2.

Note, this is Galaxy ‘Phablet’ !

When I saw Samsung Galaxy-Note for the first time, this is what I felt – Vivid. Thin. Big. Fast. It’s a breed between between smartphone and a tablet. I ensured, no delay in owning one !

Samsung calls it “a new kind of smartphone“, gizmo world calls it – “a Phablet” ! All I wanted was  freedom from multiple devices.

Samsung has defied all those unwritten rules and carved a new segment of whopping 5.3-inch Super AMOLED HD display + 1280X800 resolution making the device much wider and taller than any conventional smartphone !

Here’s the size comparison v/s iPhone-4.  The screen of the Galaxy-Note is even bigger than the entire body of the iPhone-4. It’s thin, light weight, with big beautiful screen.

Under the hood, the Galaxy-Note features a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, which keeps things moving at pace paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage plus the strong 2500mAh battery to prolong Galaxy-Note experience.

My favorite feature in Galaxy-Note is s-pen Stylus. I design interfaces & do lot of design sketches, wireframing etc., s-pen Stylus comes real handy in that case. Not to forget, I’m a doodle-freak and now this is a fantastic creative companion :)

Lastly, don’t miss Galaxy Note features shown off in videos

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: v3

First game  has landed at door-step to rock my new PS3 console. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the 2011 release in the best-selling Call of Duty First-Person Shooter action series.

The game is a direct sequel to the previous game in the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, with a campaign storyline continuing the struggle of U.S. forces against an invasion by the Russian Federation following the framing of an undercover U.S. agent in a terrorist attack on Moscow.

Along with classic Call of Duty multi-character control, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 contains deep multi-player support, including two-player Co-op Survival mode.

The game also contains all-new Kill Streak categories and customizable strike packages that offer more options for player combat styles and strategies.

I’m damn surprised with the better pricing I got from letsbuy.com v/s over hyped Flipkart:

Gaming with Slim PlayStation-3

I’ve decided to go upward this festive season with new PS3 fueled by 320GB hard disk.  I dealt closely with Wii & xBox earlier, but finally felt I belong to quality with a dash of refinement in form & factor. So is, PS3 residing besides my new Sony Bravia LED.

It’s fully Loaded and everything a gamer need, right out of the box. Interestingly, the PS3 system is the only console with a built in Blu-ray player.  All that power-packed for the future of high-definition &  Built-in Blu-ray Player, HDMI output for true HD 1080p resolution plus built in Wi-Fi. No more cords: I can play online and download games wirelessly to native hard disk.

With a smaller design, more energy-efficient operation, interesting ‘Move’ bundle and built-in Blu-ray multimedia capabilities, the PS3 Slim delivers a compelling package.

Home wall powered with Sony Bravia

I went big this Deepawali festival.  Hence, adorned my home wall with Bravia engine powered  massive 46″ LED slate from Sony.

It’s super awesome. It packs a vast amount of great high-end specs and convenience features into a glossy black display looks fine at home’s wall.

TV boasts classy, understated styling.  But that’s just the beginning. The display brings content alive with 3D technology. The astonishing effects will immediately grab attention and bring entertainment experience to the next dimension.

Since every room is different, this TV employs a LightSensor technology to automatically calibrate the optimal settings to match the color and light level of my home’s specific space. The combination of X-Reality Engine and full 1080p HD, makes this a remarkable TV by any standard.

All in all,  I’m enjoying high-def 3D powered Sony Bravia EX720 46″ – 3D LED TV ;)

Mobile phone timeline

This is my mobile phone owning timeline. Started with Vodafone locked (in 2002!) UK based Sendo phone to World’s first large screen phone HD2 from Korea’s wonderful phone company HTC.

It seems mobile phones are being sold as an almost fashion accessory nowadays, with people changing their phones every year or so. Due to market hype & affordability how often people buy a new mobile phone ?

It’s amazing that just 15 years ago, phones were black and white bricks and now some are more powerful than some people’s home computers. The technology with cell phones is increasing so fast! Not long after you buy a phone, a nicer, newer model with more features comes out !  So, do you keep up with the technology and constantly buy new phones? Or do you still have the very first cell phone you ever bought?

I buy when I feel bored with the phone I use. Probably just once a year, as long as it work and I can text and make calls that all that matters to me. But it all changed, when I decided to gift myself a new HD2 on my previous birthday. Its slim, trendy and lean design always makes me look & fiddle with it ! If not, word-feud, angry-birds makes me go for it frequently :)

HTC-HD2 is very simple and straightforward phone & it has an amazing hardware. It’s just like a platform, I can run any rooted Android build on it. So don’t have to buy new android for quite some time.  With the advent of amazing Android applications  I can run any new Android  flavors which hits the xda-dev space. I’m absolutely enjoying the pleasure, versatility, liberty and flexibility of Android.

MOTOROLA XOOM – Android Smart Tablet

Here comes the Android Honeycomb based hot new Xoom Motorola Tablet. Looks like the perfect warrior to fight iPad2. Slim, perfected and nice design v/s Samsung Galaxy !

It has been the darling of the public, this year at the Consumer Electronics Show and people are waiting for the launch since then. Motorola has put up an amazingly designed site for this fabulous looking product. It has come out at the right time to take iPad2 head on. Price seems to be little worry-some in crowded tablets market.  Competing with Apple in price front may not be the great vertical to ride-on, but time is the right yard-stick.

Checkout Xoom at Motorola, and don’t forget to view impressive video too !

Android ClockworkMod on HD2

I just can’t believe the way mobile platforms are changing the world we live in. It all goes to green baby Android. Today I read the news that it surpassed all other mobile OS to settle in top slot.

I am running gameloft’s high-voltage system intensive First-person-shooting game modern-combat-sandstorm on Android powered HD2. Also waiting to mount recently released Nintendo64 simulator. There would be no boring days anymore!

Soaked myHTC HD2 phone with ClockworkMod recently and it’s as smooth as Sonakshi’s cheeks now. My adventure-maddy friend Nikki owns HTC Desire HD and often complains of low battery life. I run 2 days straight battery sprint with the windows wiped Android :D

After a short stint with Desire build I am running Ultimate Droid 2.5 Froyo edition based JDMS Ultimate v1.6on reincarnated Android blade -HD2. New games I mounted on my new ROM are Shredder Chess v1.0, WordSmith(latest build), EA’s Scrabble. And blogging via WordPress Android native app.

How to run ClockworkMod Recovery on HTC HD2 or on any Android rooted phone ? Checkout this friendly tutorial at jayceooi’s.
