Android ClockworkMod on HD2

I just can’t believe the way mobile platforms are changing the world we live in. It all goes to green baby Android. Today I read the news that it surpassed all other mobile OS to settle in top slot.

I am running gameloft’s high-voltage system intensive First-person-shooting game modern-combat-sandstorm on Android powered HD2. Also waiting to mount recently released Nintendo64 simulator. There would be no boring days anymore!

Soaked myHTC HD2 phone with ClockworkMod recently and it’s as smooth as Sonakshi’s cheeks now. My adventure-maddy friend Nikki owns HTC Desire HD and often complains of low battery life. I run 2 days straight battery sprint with the windows wiped Android :D

After a short stint with Desire build I am running Ultimate Droid 2.5 Froyo edition based JDMS Ultimate v1.6on reincarnated Android blade -HD2. New games I mounted on my new ROM are Shredder Chess v1.0, WordSmith(latest build), EA’s Scrabble. And blogging via WordPress Android native app.

How to run ClockworkMod Recovery on HTC HD2 or on any Android rooted phone ? Checkout this friendly tutorial at jayceooi’s.

Android on Windows HD2

Wow ! this is an amazing and wonderful hack.  Now I can run Windows as well as Android on my phone. I don’t regret that I didn’t go for Android phone as I’m running Windows as well. Android 2.2 desire User Interface Design is just awesome. Android is running so smooth and hassle free that I don’t have to run Windows version at all !

My current HD2 tech specs are :

2.5.20181527.0 -Manila
3.14.720 – ROM
2.15.50.14 – RADIO

After downloading MDJ FroYo Sense Revolution v.1.5, follow these installation instructions :

  1. Place “Android” folder on the root of your SD card
  2. With keypad lights on, run “CLRCAD.exe” then “haret.exe”
  3. First boot will take up to 10-15 minutes
  4. You can also use, Mskip_Android_Loader_V5.0 to launch Android in phone start-up.

As usual, the tech flexibility is created by benevolent m-deejay of xda-developers team

Android musings

When I bought HTC HD2 powered with Windows Mobile 6.5, it was the difficult decision I made.

Microsoft did most ugliest job of patching up windows-5 randomly to give a make over as 6.5. Such a bad work on a most dynamic and fast paced SmartPhone OS space and ended up as a lame vendor on the list. They missed a golden opportunity to gain a heavy weight to showcase strength, branding, goodwill and not the least: opportunity to make good business. Being a early Windows smart phone user,  I had to read painfully; how Ballmer said they screwed up with Windows Mobile !

Apple, grabbed the opportunity with an innovative thinking and natural pace. Even when Nokia watched with open mouth and could not able to catch up being a numero uno in mobile space. When everyone thought there’s nothing left to compete in a crowded world. They came up with a iPad to insert it in between SmartPhone and Laptop. When iPad was released it was a massive joke in non Mac community. But today, I badly need one to read books, carry it on my personal travels, for lot of reasons where I don’t need laptop. The clever marketing is ‘not being there in right time or not 4Ps but make user to be there at the right time’. I loved the reverse Psychology vendetta of Steve.

Google knew it. side Ads won’t feed much of its appetite but certainly a big name in wherever eyeballs get to. They just wanted to be there in all those places where people could ponder over alternatives. So there comes the Android. I don’t know how much money Google makes out of Android but surely, they started off slowly, rather lethargically but today, as of today: they’ve surpassed the smart-behemoth Apple. Can you believe  it ? Android has also transformed Google and its longtime ally Apple into fierce rivals.

What began as a trickle now has turned into a tidal wave. In August Google announced it was activating 200,000 Android phones each day. On at least one day since then, that number surged to more than 250,000, Rubin says. Android now has leapt past Apple to become the biggest smart-phone platform in the United States, the third-biggest worldwide, and by far the fastest growing.

When I bought Windows-smart phone Dopod with Winmo 5.0 four years back, I also happen to touch early version of Android.  It felt like a dead User Interface Design to me. Not even once I was impressed as I’m today with the new version of Android 2.2 Froyo. I’m not trendmotional but I strongly believe  Android is the way to go ! Never the less, I would still go for Android powered Samsung galaxy pad than iPad :).
